Unfortunately dear reader we have just been informed the route we planned in Spain to Santiago de Compostela is not safe to walk currently. Heavy rains since the new year have left much of the route flooded and impassable with bridges and trails no longer passable. This has meant we have been forced to cancel accommodation and flights…. A personal loss of around £500!!
Val had spent alot of time planning our route and booking flights and accomodation. She did a grand job when we did Part 1 of the Portuguese Camino in Sept/Oct 2025.
Because of the flooding and weather we will probably now complete this in May 2027
A walk in Rome from 5th until 12th March is now the choice for Val’s birthday and our fund raise.
We will be staying here and walking to all of the historical sites from there

There are 703 million people, almost one in ten, who don’t have clean water close to home. For women and girls, the burden is even greater. Millions must make difficult journeys – every single day – to fetch the water they and their families need to survive.
Please help us raise vital funds to help ensure that no woman or girl is held back by a lack of clean water.
We are doing this to raise money for “Wateraid” . If you are interested you can find our Justgiving account at
Please give generously if you can and by all means please share with anyone who you may think is interested and is able to contribute
Val and I will endeavour to update this on a daily basis with news and pictures of our walk when we decide our new plan. This will be subject to internet coverage.
