On Wednesday, Val and I went to the beach at Gorleston-on-Sea. This is a reasonably regular visit for us, as it’s such a wonderful beach. It was a bright day with some cloud, but we didn’t think it would be too hot, so we took food, chairs, a windbreak, kindles, and something to drink. It’s about a 45-minute drive from our house, and there is a new road now to Yarmouth, which makes the drive a little bit easier. Hi.
On arrival, we left everything in the car to start with and had a little walk. After a brief walk, we loaded up our little trolley and walked to the cafe on the front called Jay Jay’s. Jay Jay’s has been there for many years. I believe it’s owned by a Polish family, and it’s brilliant. I think it’s open all year round apart from Christmas Day and in the autumn and winter, it does special offers on different days of the week. For example, on Fridays, it does two fish and chips for £20, and the fish and chips are brilliant. That’s a fantastic price. Anyhow, we stopped at AJ’s and had a cappuccino and then headed for the beach.It was quite windy, so we tried to find a bit of beach that had a little bit of extra protection from the wind, but that was quite difficult. We put up our windbreak and sat behind that and read for three and a half hours. When we sit somewhere in Turkey, I try and find somewhere to sit in the shade, but on this occasion there wasn’t really any shade. Clouds were moving across the sky, and I didn’t think that I was going to be sunburnt, but I was.In fact, I was quite nastily burnt on my front, and after several days I’m still quite red.
